One Million Fedora Users!Max Spevack (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MaxSpevack) points out in his blog (http://spevack.livejournal.com/5399.html): We've hit the 1 million mark in terms of Fedora Core 6 unique installations. Everyone in the Fedora community gets a big pat on the back. FUDCon ReminderMax Spevack (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MaxSpevack) points out in his blog (http://spevack.livejournal.com/5299.html): Quick post -- I just wanted to remind everyone that FUDCon Boston 2007 is coming up the weekend of February 2 - 4. If you're planning on coming, now's the time to be getting plane tickets, etc. Fedora 7 ScheduleBill Nottingham (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BillNottingham) announces in in fedora-devel-list (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2007-January/msg00091.html): Starting with Fedora 7, there is no more Core, and no more Extras; there is only Fedora. One single repository, built in the community on open source tools, assembled into whatever spins the Fedora community desires. Speaking at SCALESam FolkWilliams (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SamFolkWilliams) points out in his blog (http://samfw.blogspot.com/2007/01/speaking-at-scale-on-210-11.html): I'll be presenting on Virtualization in FC6 and RHEL 5 at the Southern Cal Linux Expo (SCALE) in LA on Feb 10/11. The talk will be as much detail as I can get into 45 mins, focusing on the virt implementation in FC6/RHEL5 (virt-manager, virsh, Xen). Security Features in RHEL and Fedora CoreMark Cox (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MarkCox) reports in his blog (http://www.awe.com/mark/blog/200701041544.html): Late last year a reporter contacted me who was interested in the various security features and innovations in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora. She particularly wanted to know the dates when each first made it into a shipping product. Security Week in Review 2006-12-31Josh Bressers (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JoshBressers) reports in his blog (http://www.bress.net/blog/index.php?/archives/47-Security-Week-in-Review-2006-12-31.html): Mozilla - The most notable thing I found worth mentioning over the holidays was a security update of the Mozilla products Opera - Opera patched in secret. It seems that the Opera folks tried to sneak in two critical fixes without telling anyone. OpenOffice.org - Speaking of sneaking around, it seems there was some thought that the recent OpenOffice.org update was a bit sneaky.
